Pixel Fractional Skin Resurfacing

When skin ages, it can become blotchy, sallow, yellow, or it may develop age spots or broken capillaries. Pregnancy, birth control pills, acne scars, and heredity may also age the skin. Attributes such as enlarged pores, wrinkles, and fine lines make a person appear old and tired. In addition, sun exposure, nutrition, alcohol, and smoking can add to facial wrinkles and can cause collagen and elastin loss. We lose approximately one percent of dermal collagen every year after age 20, and sun exposure doubles the rate of loss.

Solaris Med Spa can rejuvenate your skin, diminish wrinkles and fine lines, and improve your appearance with pixel fractional skin resurfacing.

Purpose

Pixel fractional skin resurfacing creates thousands of tiny perforations in the skin, and skin around these holes remains intact. The epidermis, the top layer of skin, heals from the edges of the holes. Thus, in increments, a fraction of the skin is resurfaced.

With old layers of skin removed, the growth of new skin cells is stimulated, which improves skin tone and texture. Pixel skin resurfacing is ideal for wrinkle effacement, scar reduction, and skin texture improvement. Commonly used to minimize the appearance of fine lines, especially around the mouth and the eyes, pixel skin resurfacing can also reduce uneven pigmentation.

Non-Surgical Procedure

At Solaris Med Spa, we may perform outpatient laser resurfacing on the whole face or in specific regions. Often, non-surgical laser skin resurfacing is performed in conjunction with other cosmetic operations, such as photofacial, skin tightening, portrait, and/or threadlift. Patients do not require anesthesia. Unlike the old CO2, Pixel is safe and can be used on thin skin areas, such as the décolleté and neck. Five to seven treatment sessions may be required.

Background

In the early days, CO2 laser resurfacing was the standard. The painful procedure required a long recovery time and could induce hypopigmentation. CO2 resurfacing can cause patients to look unnatural, as if, “they had something done to their face.”

Effects

With Pixel fractional skin resurfacing, the patient may be red for one or two days, but otherwise, no recovery time or downtime is expected.

Results

Pixel skin resurfacing as a part of laser skin rejuvenation is popular because it is relatively safe and effective, and it results in smoother, younger, healthier looking skin.
